Yahoo uses indexes or a table of contents approach to bring you to the sites you need.
AltaVista uses a world-wide search for the words you want. Use + to include items, - to exclude items and " " quotation marks to search for an exact expression. Always use small letters (lower case) for a more extensive search. Example: "windows 95" +help +"short cuts" -"windows 3.x"
