PRE-ACTIVITIES: 

1. Students are introduced to Winnie-the-Pooh’s Canadian heritage through the story, A Most Remarkable Mascot. 

2. Students are introduced to the characters of A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories by going to link: http://voyager.cns.ohiou.edu/~bkeys/html/chap1.txt , Winnie the Pooh’s Character Guide. They read the descriptions of the main characters found in Winnie-the-Pooh stories.

 

ACTIVITIES: Students answer questions about the characters in the text by doing a scavenger hunt (see Appendix A).

 

CLOSURE: Students compile a book of Pooh facts OR Students go to the site : http://www.clark.net/pub/innanen/stephanie/fopring.html  and become a " Friend of Pooh ". By simply clicking on the appropriate icon, they create their own website as a new " Friend of Pooh".  

FEEDBACK/EVALUATION: Arrange pictures and descriptions of Winnie-the-Pooh characters in random order on a page. Students match each description with the appropriate character.

 

FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITY:

Winnie-the-Pooh and the Honey Tree for information about the CD Rom with animated story book and simple games.

For students: Correspond with other " Friends of Pooh " via email. 

CLASS MANAGEMENT: 

    • with the whole class working in pairs in the computer lab.
    • as an enrichment activity or at a workshop station in the classroom where there might be one, two or three computers.
